Video Transcript for Review of Pop and Lock Vehicle Locks - Van Locks - 100399

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Pop and Lock cargo safe power deadbolt lock set. This is going to be for your side sliding door and also for your rear swing door on your Chevy Express van. That's for the years, 1997 through 2019. So it fits a lot of those vans and should keep all your stuff safe. This is great for all kinds of applications.

Whether you're running a fleet of vans, and you want to make sure that they're secure overnight, or if you're going to be retrofitting that van for some adventures out on the road. Maybe you're going to be living in that van, converting it into a more livable space. This is going to be a great option for you to stay safe, keep your stuff inside very safe and keep your investment in tact.So let's take a look at what comes in our kit here. With everything more or less laid out here on the table. So this is going to be the main unit for our side sliding door lock.

You can see this deadbolt coming out. This is going to be a complete piece, so you don't really have to assemble anything. You just need to make some modifications to the door to get everything in place. So there is a bit of drilling required for this to run all the wiring and to run all the hardware where it needs to go. So that is one thing that I want to mention right off the bat.

It does come with pretty detailed instructions with pictures. So that always helps to get the install rolling a little bit quicker. You're going to need a power drill and a step bit, up to an inch and a quarter to make this happen. And then you'll also need a center punch, some electrical tape, a trim panel removal tool, and a utility knife. So those are all listed up there at the top. There are probably a few other tools that you'll need, but those are going to be the main things.

Some other drill bits, flathead screwdriver, but that should be about all your need. It also comes with a template for drilling things out. So that also makes it a little easy. It is just a sheet of paper that you have to hold up, but that does help to lay everything out and make sure that you get that hole drilled where you need it to go. Same thing kind of goes for that rear swing door. We're going to have to make some modifications to get this in place, but it does have a pretty well laid out instructions on how to do that. These other smaller brackets are going to help to hold up our larger units. And then we'll also have some smaller hardware to get in place. It also does come with some stickers to give a visual indicator to any would be thieves that it is going to be a harder nut to crack than they might be willing to go for. So that's partially one of the biggest steps in any kind of theft deterrent is having that visual indicator, that this is going to be a lot harder to deal with then some other car down the road. So you might as well just move on rather than trying with that. We'll have two sets of wiring. So these are just going to be some short little lengths to go to our main units here, these plug right in together. But then you will have to hard splice into your door wiring to utilize your key fob. That is a main feature of this though, is that you can actually use your factory electric connections for the doors. So you can use your factory power locks and that's what I'm trying to say, to open and close this. So you don't have to worry about having a separate key to unlock these guys. It's going to use that same system that your van already has. So if you've got power locks, you can hit the button, open everything up, no problem. So you don't have to get any new locks for this. It's just going to go right in with your factory system. You do have to hard slice into that, as I mentioned though. So I hope that's given a good overview of what to expect with this kit. I think it is going to be a very nice system. Should look or should be very secure. Everything's going to be made up of heavy duty steel construction. So it's well-made, definitely going to hold everything together well. It's just going to take a little bit of elbow grease to get it installed, but shouldn't be anything that an afternoon couldn't take care of. So hope that's been helpful. Thanks for watching. And we'll see you out there on the road.
